Where are Prince Edward Island government tenders posted?
Short answer
Prince Edward Island government tenders are listed on the province's Search for Tenders and Procurement Opportunities page at princeedwardisland.ca, which covers provincial departments, Crown agencies and many other Island organizations, and the province says all provincial PEI tenders are currently also advertised on CanadaBuys. Electronic bids for many provincial tenders go through Euna Procurement (formerly Bonfire), where you register to download documents and receive addenda. Health PEI, the City of Charlottetown and the City of Summerside also run their own tender pages, so one search does not cover the whole Island.

Where does the PEI government post its tenders?
The starting point is the province's Search for Tenders and Procurement Opportunities page on princeedwardisland.ca. You can search by a keyword from the title or description, or by solicitation number (PEI numbers look like PEIG-5950), and filter by category, status (open, expired or cancelled), organization and publication year. Categories include construction, goods, services, services related to goods, and government land or buildings for sale.
The organization filter shows how wide the listing is. Beyond provincial departments such as Transportation and Infrastructure, Health and Wellness and Education and Early Years, it includes Health PEI, Crown bodies such as Island Waste Management Corporation and the PEI Liquor Control Commission, school boards, Holland College, the University of Prince Edward Island, First Nations, and many towns and rural municipalities, including the City of Charlottetown and the City of Summerside. UPEI, for example, says it publishes its tenders to the Government of Prince Edward Island's tendering site.
General tender inquiries go to Procurement Services, on the second floor of the Shaw Building at 95 Rochford Street in Charlottetown. The province says it buys more than $100 million of goods and services from the private sector each year, and that departments and agencies directly administer most service and construction contracts, so the buying office named on a tender is not always Procurement Services.
When does a PEI purchase have to be publicly tendered?
PEI's Selling Goods and Services to Government page sets out the methods by dollar value. For goods bought by Schedule A entities:
- $0 to $4,999: direct purchase or a competitive process.
- $5,000 to $9,999: two or three written quotes, or a competitive process.
- $10,000 up to the lowest applicable trade agreement threshold: a public competitive process, or an invited process limited to local suppliers.
- At or above the lowest applicable trade agreement threshold: a public tender. The province says Procurement Services can confirm the current figure.
For services, the province recommends three written quotes under $50,000 and a formal Request for Proposal over $50,000, with Treasury Board approval needed to award contracts above $100,000. Construction over $100,000 goes to a formal, publicly advertised process under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement. The province says it buys in accordance with the Procurement of Goods Act and Regulations, and that public tenders are issued in accordance with the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
How do I get notified of new PEI tenders?
The province points suppliers to two notification routes, and neither one is complete on its own:
- CanadaBuys email notifications. Run a search on CanadaBuys tender opportunities and select Follow this search, or follow a single notice to track its changes. You can choose email or an RSS or Atom feed. Since the province says all provincial PEI tenders are currently advertised on CanadaBuys, a saved search there catches provincial tenders even if you miss them on Euna.
- Euna (Bonfire) notifications. The province says you can create an Euna account to receive select tender notifications by email, but that not all opportunities are posted in Euna. By default, Euna emails you when tenders matching your commodity codes are posted, so pick those codes carefully.
For addenda, the province says vendors must register with a Euna Procurement account to download tender documents and receive addenda on tenders run through Euna. Any change to a tender's specifications is added to the posting as an addendum, and the province asks bidders to check the posting before they submit.
How do I register and bid on a PEI tender?
- Open the tender's details page and select Register in the top right corner to create a Euna account. The province says only registered suppliers can submit tenders through Euna, and vendors already registered under Bonfire can use their existing credentials.
- Enter your organization name, your name and email address, then follow the Euna email to set a password and join or create your company account.
- Add keywords that describe what you sell, so agencies can find and invite you, and choose commodity codes carefully, since they drive your email notifications.
- Submit before the closing time shown on the tender. The province says the bidding system's clock decides the closing time, a submission counts when the system receives it, and late submissions are not accepted.
- Register as a government vendor with the Payee Registration Form, because suppliers must be registered vendors to invoice and be paid.
Not every PEI tender is electronic. The province's submission page also lists in-person, mail, fax and email delivery, and some construction notices ask for sealed envelopes delivered to a named building, so follow the method in each tender document. Each tender also refers to the Atlantic Provinces Standard Terms and Conditions, which all bidders must comply with.
Where else are PEI public sector tenders posted?
City of Charlottetown
Charlottetown lists its tenders, RFPs and quotations on its own Tendering and RFP page, where most bid documents can be downloaded, and says you can also sign up for tender and RFP notifications through MERX. The City keeps an email list for tender, RFP and addendum notices that you can join by email, and all City tenders close at 2:00 p.m. local time. Recently awarded tenders are posted on a separate awards page.
City of Summerside
Summerside posts tenders in the Tenders, RFP's and Public Notices section of summerside.ca, with links to specifications and addenda. A 2026 paving tender, for example, asked for sealed tenders at the Tender Box in City Hall at 275 Fitzroy St. The City of Summerside also appears as an organization in the provincial tender search.
Health PEI
Health PEI has its own Euna (Bonfire) portal at healthpei.bonfirehub.ca, with HPEI reference numbers. Health PEI is also an organization in the provincial tender search, but checking its portal directly is the safer habit for health sector work.
Federal work and Atlantic programs
Federal government tenders in PEI are on CanadaBuys, the official source for Government of Canada tender notices. The province also says it sometimes joins tenders with the other Atlantic provinces, and the Council of Atlantic Premiers' site describes an Atlantic Supplier Development Team of government procurement professionals that helps Atlantic businesses find public sector opportunities.
Where do suppliers miss PEI opportunities?
What I see most often on the Island is a supplier watching one channel when the work is spread across several. The common gaps:
- Relying on Euna alerts alone. The province says not all opportunities are posted in Euna, so pair it with a CanadaBuys saved search or the provincial tender search.
- Missing municipal and health postings. Charlottetown, Summerside and Health PEI each run their own tender pages or portal, and Charlottetown also offers notifications through MERX.
- Assuming every bid is online. Some PEI tenders, especially construction, still ask for sealed paper submissions at a named office, and the deadline is when the bid is received.
- Work below public tender thresholds. Goods under $10,000 can be bought directly or through quotes, services under $50,000 through quotes, and some provincial goods processes can be limited to invited local suppliers, so being known to buyers and to Procurement Services matters.
- Collaborative and joint buying. PEI buys some commodities, such as office supplies and tires, through the federal-provincial-territorial collaborative procurement initiative, and Charlottetown may use group buying firms, so some needs never appear as a local PEI tender.
- Missing results. Awarded tenders, with the vendor and contract amount for departments, Crowns and agencies, are on the province's Search Awarded Procurement Opportunities and Tenders page, which shows who is winning the work you want.
Common follow-up questions
Are PEI provincial tenders on CanadaBuys?
Yes. The province says all provincial PEI tenders are currently being advertised on CanadaBuys, and that by May 2027 most provincial and territorial opportunities will also be posted there.
Do I need a Euna (Bonfire) account to bid on PEI tenders?
For tenders run through Euna, yes. The province says you must register with Euna to download documents, receive addenda and submit electronically, and existing Bonfire credentials still work.
Where do I find Charlottetown tenders?
On the City of Charlottetown's Tendering and RFP page. The City says you can also sign up for its tender and RFP notifications through MERX. You can also ask by email to join the City's tender and addendum notification list.
Does Health PEI post tenders separately?
Yes. Health PEI runs its own Euna (Bonfire) portal at healthpei.bonfirehub.ca, and it also appears as an organization in the provincial tender search.
How do I find out who won a PEI tender?
Search the province's Search Awarded Procurement Opportunities and Tenders page by vendor, title, organization or solicitation number. It shows the awarded vendor and contract amount for departments, Crowns and agencies.
Who do I contact about PEI government tenders?
Procurement Services, Second Floor, Shaw Building, 95 Rochford Street, Charlottetown, at 902-368-4040 or procurementservices@gov.pe.ca. Questions about a specific tender go to the contact named in that tender.
